Stand Out With Brand PromotionThe idea behind brand promotion is to get people to associate a picture, voice, or image in their mind with a brand. Take for instance the Nike symbol. All someone has to do is see the Nike logo and even if the word "Nike" is not there, people know who it is. Or, if you see the word Nike, the folks in that company have done such a good job at brand promotion that you see the logo in your mind. The goal of brand promotion is to consistently communicate the visual images of a company with who the company is and what they stand for. Brand promotion seeks to make a certain company's image be different from the others. Otherwise, without effective brand promotion, the company will just blend in with everyone else. Here are some tips to help you have an effective brand promotion campaign for your business: Brand Promotion Tip 1: Saturate the market It just makes good sense that the way to do an effective brand promotion that creates brand recognition is to saturate the market with it. This means placing your logo and company name wherever you can. Banner ads are one way businesses saturate the internet market in brand promotion. You'll see brand promotion taking place in your community when businesses place flyers on bulletin boards in public places and restaurants. You also see brand promotion as vehicles place their business logo on the side of company vehicles and personal vehicles. Brand Promotion Tip 2: Make it "wow" This is a simple example but it shows the "wow" effect that can happen through effective brand promotion. A person was trying to sell his van and had advertised it on Craigslist and the local newspaper. A few "browsers" called but no serious buyers. Finally, in desperation, the seller put a bright orange sign on the back window of the van that said for sale in English and Spanish with the phone number. That's it. But the bright orange color made it stand out in traffic. The van was sold that day and to someone who spoke Spanish. This example has nothing to do with creating a regular brand promotion but it shows how when you make a message stand out, people will notice. They will internally say "wow" and want to look further. Brand Promotion Tip 3: Try being funny Years ago, a certain burger company used a little old lady to look at the competition's hamburgers only to ask the other company's counter guy, "Where's the beef!" That line became associated with Wendy's Hamburgers and stuck with people for years afterwards. Why? It was funny. Brand promotion works very effectively when it makes people laugh. This is why podcasting and placing videos on YouTube is so effective-most make people laugh. Brand Promotion Tip 4: Use as much audio and video as you can With the internet, it is easier than ever to use audio and video in brand promotion. Videos can be placed on YouTube.com and podcasts can be placed on feeder sites for this media. Be careful however to not rely on video or audio totally for brand promotion because not everyone uses computers and many who do have older computers that do not handle audio and video at the densities commonly seen with iTunes or YouTube video. |
